ROBERT T. WETHERELL was born in Mountain Home, Idaho, on February 17, 1958. He obtained his law degree from the University of Idaho in 1982. Mr. Wetherell’s undergraduate degree was from Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in government in 1980. As an honor student he also attended the University of Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria, during his senior year at Saint John’s University. He has been admitted to the Idaho State Bar since 1983.
Upon admission to the Bar in Idaho, Mr. Wetherell became a law clerk to United States District Judge Fred M. Taylor and United States District Judge Ray McNichols of the United States District Court for the District of Idaho. Upon completion of the two-year clerkship with the federal courts in Idaho, Mr. Wetherell became a member of the firm of Kennedy & Thomas, where he had a general practice with emphasis in the area of real estate. After approximately 2 years, Mr. Wetherell joined one of the state’s largest insurance defense firms where he worked from 1986 until 1993 when he became associated with his current partners.
Mr. Wetherell has had extensive trial experience in almost all aspects of litigation. His previous areas of practice include environmental defense and coverage issues, products liability, automobile negligence, wrongful termination and personnel matters, defense of governmental entities, real estate and commercial litigation. He is a member of the Idaho State Bar Association and the Boise Adjusters Association. In addition, Mr. Wetherell is involved in community activities which include his role as volunteer legal counsel for Idaho Special Olympics, former president and current board member of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and as a national board member for the University of Idaho. Mr. Wetherell is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Idaho, including the federal courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
